Wirex reaches “profitability” - aiming for 2020 US launch
Wirex allows its customers to buy, store, exchange or spend crypto and traditional fiat currencies on the same mobile app. Founded in 2014, it was a payments innovator in Europe and the first to offer debit cards linked to cryptocurrency accounts, enabling blockchain and digital currency to enter the mainstream and become usable in everyday transactions.
CEO Pavel Matveev says the company is now operating in the black and has over 3 million customers in 130 countries, providing simple money transfer options and the ability to spend 150 currencies in more than 46 million locations worldwide “wherever Visa is accepted.”
Pavel says by removing key barriers to cryptocurrency usage, access is democratized -“helping to bring the world ever closer to mass adoption.” He says following its expansion in Europe and Asia, Wirex is planning to enter the US market later this year.
