China seizes 10,100 mining equipments in inner Mongolia
Chinese authorities in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have seized 10,100 mining equipment from a government-run high-tech park, local online media reported today.
The move came after 9 central authorities in China including the People’s Bank of China and the Supreme court issued a joint statement on the 24th, laying out their strategy to eliminate crypto mining from the country.
Chinese state news reported that the authorities received a tip-off regarding a possible mining operation in its government-run high-tech park. After carrying out investigations, authorities discovered over 10,000 mining rigs at the site.
The article also revealed that now over 24 mining facilities have shut down, saving more than 6.58 billion kWh of electricity, or 2 million tons of coal, per year.
