Dapper Labs raises $250M in latest funding round
Blockchain company Dapper Labs, famously known as the creator of NBA Top Shot NFTs and Flow blockchain, announced that it has raised $250 million in a new funding round.
The investment round was led by US investment company Coatue Ventures along with several participants including Andreessen Horowitz, Google’s GV, Version One Ventures, and GIC (Singapore’s government fund).
A person familiar with the matter told Coindesk that with the recent funding round, the company has hit the valuation of $7.6 billion. It previously raised $305 million in a funding round also led by Coatue in March.
Dapper Labs t independently develops and operates Flow Blockchain (FLOW) that specializes in entertainment, and publishes popular NFT series such as ‘NBA Top Shot’ and ‘CryptoKitties’.
NBA Top Shot is an NFT marketplace where users can buy, sell, and trade blockchain-based officially licensed video highlights from basketball games in the forms of trading cards.
Last week, the company announced that Google Cloud would become Flow’s network operator and provide scaling infrastructure to the blockchain.
