Mastercard partners with José Mourinho to launch its first NFT
US payments giant Mastercard announced on the 16th that it will issue its first NFT (Non-Fungible Token) in partnership with the football coach and Mastercard global ambassador José Mourinho.
Mourinho is a former soccer player and the current head coach of Italian football club Serie A club Roma. He has won several club championships in England, Italy, and Portugal
The unique NFT will display an animated digital football with an inscription of Mourinho’s signature.
Mastercard has also announced a lottery campaign in which one UK cardholder can receive this NFT. The company wrote in its press release:
“Today’s announcement of a new sweepstakes means that one lucky Mastercard cardholder in the United Kingdom will be randomly selected to win the NFT. UK-based cardholders can sign up now through September 30 for a chance to own a digital piece of history. Good luck!”
Recently, cases of major companies entering the NFT industry have significantly increased, likely due to the booming NFT market.
MasterCard’s rival Visa announced last month that it purchased the popular NFT CryptoPunks # 7610 for Ethereum’s worth $ 150,000.
