Slovenian government to issue NFTs as souvenirs at Dubai Expo
Minister of Economic Development and Technology Simon Zajc of Slovenia announced on the 21st that the Slovenian government will distribute its own NFTs at the Dubai Expo showcase, becoming the first country in the world to launch NFTs as the world’s first digital souvenir.
The news was revealed at the European Blockchain Week 2021 held from the 21st to the 24th last week.
Expo 2020 Dubai is set to open from October 1 where the tokens will be gifted to visitors at Slovenia’s pavilion.
The project was made possible with the cooperation of the Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the public agency for the promotion of entrepreneurship and investment SPIRIT, and the Ljubljana Technology Park, a public-private initiative that promotes innovation.
The platform #IFeelNFT that issues NFTs uses the blockchain technology of Slovenian blockchain company Tolar HashNET. HashNET’s blockchain is characterized by high speed, and according to the company, it is designed to handle more than 200,000 transactions per second.
Visitors to the Slovenian Pavilion can obtain an NFT by scanning the QR code or accessing #IFeelNFT and entering the authorization number.
Slovenia’s unique NFT is a collection of 360-degree panoramic high-definition photographs set in digital 3D exhibits consisting of Slovenia’s popular tourist attractions such as Lake Bled and Postojna Cave.
Earlier this week, Zajc noted:
“Slovenia is thus being presented at EXPO Dubai 2020 as an innovative, digital and smart destination whose pavilion is certainly worth a visit for its distinctive leafy facade, interesting content, new business opportunities and the NFTs.”
