Wormhole announces NFT bridge between Ethereum and Solana
Wormhole, which develops compatibility and interoperable technology for high-valued blockchains, announced on the 22nd that it is launching an Ethereum – Solana bridge that allows the movement of assets between the two rivaled blockchain networks.
It is currently in its testnet phase and only supports ERC-721 (with metadata) and SPL assets. However, the network is working on expanding NFT support further to enable cross-chain transfers of ERC-1155 assets as well.
The network also informed that it will also launch a bridge for BSC (Binance Smart Chain) and Terra in the future.
In the announcement, Wormhole said that users are now free to send NFTs such as Degen Ape Academy (Sorana NFTs), Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Crypto Punks (Ethereum NFTs) across the bridge.
19 independent validators (called guardians) have been stationed in Wormhole to verify whether tokens are locked up on the source blockchain to ensure the security and integrity of cross-chain tools.
