Cosmos unveils new experimental blockchain ‘Sagan’
Blockchain platform Cosmos (ATOM) recently reported its progress on its new blockchain aimed at allowing developers to experiment with different protocols. The new blockchain ‘Sagan’ would likely be the canary network of Cosmos.
In Sagan’s introductory video, the company explained that the blockchain is still in development. The video contained an image of a bird called Canary, which might be symbolizing that the blockchain will become a ‘canary network’.
The term was originally coined by Polkadot to describe its Kusama test network. Canary Networks have different points from ordinary blockchain test nets.
While the testnet tokens are dummy tokens and do not have a particular value, Canary network tokens have actual value (price) and have a similar functioning to the original blockchain.
In addition to launching Sagan, Cosmos made several announcements including its partnership with gaming company Forte. Forte provides the blockchain infrastructure needed by game developers including a wallet for storing cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
The partnership will allow game developers using the Forte platform to easily integrate their games into the Cosmos blockchain network.
Peng Zhong, CEO of Tendermint, the software development company behind Cosmos, said:
“With almost three billion gamers around the world and immense interest surrounding NFTs, the partnership with Forte will help propel Cosmos to a wider audience and solidify our place as a leading blockchain ecosystem.”
