Fashion retailer PacSun to enable online crypto payments
US youth fashion retailer PacSun announced on the 5th that it will start accepting payments in crypto for purchases made on its online store, starting next week.
The retailer has partnered with 10-year-old blockchain payment provider BitPay to offer crypto payment options including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Wrapped Bitcoin, along with five US Dollar-backed stablecoins.
Users can seamlessly pay by connecting wallets such as Coinbase, Metamask, Trust Wallet, and Binance with its online store.
According to the company’s press release, the move was targeted towards its primary audience Gen Z which constitutes 54% of current or former crypto owners, according to a recent study by pymnts.com.
Michael (Mike) Relich, Co-CEO at Pacsun, said:
“The Gen Z audience, our primary consumer, is very tech oriented, and we dedicate a lot of our efforts towards social media and ecommerce to align with their lifestyles and resonate with them on a more personal level.
Seeing their increasing desire towards cryptocurrency, it was clear that we needed to adjust and offer BitPay as another payment option, to further instill their confidence in us as one of their go-to retailers that truly listens.”
In addition, PacSun and BitPay will partner with TikTok and Instagram influencers to launch a social media campaign for the new online service.
