McDonald’s China releases 1st NFT ‘Big Mac Rubik’s Cube’
McDonald’s is celebrating its 31st anniversary in China by hopping on to the NFT train. The food chain giant has released its first NFT called ‘Big Mac Rubik’s Cube’ to revel the opening of its headquarters in Shanghai, China.
As part of its creative strategy, McDonald’s will release 188 NFT creative works to employees and consumers, Chinese crypto and blockchain news outlet 8BTC reported on Friday.
According to the announcement and image published, the NFT is a three-dimensional dynamic digital creative work inspired by McDonald’s brand spirit and the shape of the new headquarters building. The new building will be officially open today (08 Oct.).
Zhang Jiayin, CEO of McDonald’s China, said in a statement:
“At this special moment, we use the form of NFT to share McDonald’s innovation, digitalization and trend art with employees and consumers.”
The statement revealed that the 188 NFTs would be presented in the form of limited gifts to its lucky customers and employees.
As more countries are embracing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology with El Salvador’s McDonald’s accepting Bitcoin as payments, China recently took a step back and banned virtually every crypto activity in its region.
