A plot of Axie Infinity virtual land grabs for 550 ETH
Metaverse hype is starting to show up after a plot of virtual land in the Axie Infinity NFT game sold for 550 ETH, approximately $2.3 trillion at current prices of Ethereum.
The land in question is a piece of Axie Infinity’s Genesis Land, which is located at the center of the game map. It is one of the 220 extremely rare plots on Axie Infinity’s game map and is one of the highest purchased virtual lands to date.
The purchase was made by a user named Lunacian # 789512 and was sold by user ArcaChemist on Thursday. The announcement was made by Axie Infinity on Twitter.

Axie Infinity has several types of land which are home to in-game characters ‘Axies’. Some of the land names include Savannah, Forest, Arctic, Mystic, and Genesis, which are collectively called “Lunacia.”
Built on the Ethereum Blockchain, Axie Infinity has become one of the popular decentralized play-to-earn games. The NFT game was developed by Sky Mavis, a Vietnam-based game developer which raised roughly $150 million in its series B funding held in October.
Axie Infinity requires users to buy NFT characters Axies and make them fight with each other to earn tokens called small love potions (SLP), which can be traded for cash or crypto assets. The game has become a source of earning amongst several users belonging to developing countries, such as Vietnam, the Philippines, and Venezuela.
