Crypto.com strikes sponsorship deal with CONMEBOL Libertadores
Singapore-based popular crypto exchange Crypto.com has signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with Latin America’s leading Soccer competition, CONMEBOL Libertadores, one of the many Crypto.com has signed to expand its global marketing strategy.
The multi-year partnership will take off from 2023 up to 2026 and Crypto.com will be licensed as one of the official issuers of the competition’s non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from 2022. As part of the agreement, Crypto.com will be integrated into the Virtual Assistant Referee (VAR) feature as an associated brand.
Regarding its NFT deal, Crypto.com will employ its newly launched NFT platform ‘Crypto.com NFT’ to develop collectibles associated with the Intellectual Property of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Competition. The competition had previously partnered with Ethernity Chain to issue an NFT of the 47th Copa America trophy.
Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com commented on the partnership:
“Our research shows Latin America is leading the way in embracing cryptocurrency, with 40% of Latin Americans saying they are interested in buying crypto in the near future. Naturally we were eager to support the continent’s most important football competition, adding to our world-class portfolio of sports sponsorships”.
Crypto.com has been making strides in its marketing after making several sports sponsorship deals. It recently secured naming rights of the classic Staples center in Los Angeles. The $700 million deal will allow the crypto-exchange to change the venue’s name to ‘Crypto.com Arena’ on December 25.
