Discord complies with users disapproving Ethereum integration
While the crypto community was largely excited for the social network’s possible support for Ethereum wallets, a majority of Discord users weren’t very happy with the move. In order to put those users at ease, Discord CEO Jason Citron announced on Thursday that the company does not have any forthcoming plans to integrate with the crypto space.
Thanks for all the perspectives everyone. We have no current plans to ship this internal concept. For now we're focused on protecting users from spam, scams and fraud. Web3 has lots of good but also lots of problems we need to work through at our scale. More soon.

Citron had posted a screenshot of a possible pre-release upgrade on November 8, which included an Ethereum, Metamask, and WalletConnect logo. The tweet along with the caption “probably nothing” suggested Discord’s plans to introduce those features.
Soon after the tweet, though, the Discord gaming community took to Twitter and Reddit to express their disapproval, citing environmental, money laundering, and NFT concerns associated with the Ethereum ecosystem.
The unexpected backlash also resulted in many users canceling their premium subscription of Discord Nitro as well as internal conflicts among its staff, as per a tweet by gaming curator Ryan Brown.
“Thanks for all the perspectives everyone. We have no current plans to ship this internal concept,” wrote Citron on Twitter, adding that Discord would currently focus on eliminating “spam, scams, and fraud” from its platform.
