NFL to release NFT ticket collectibles via Polygon
USA’s National Football League (NFL) announced Thursday that it will issue “virtual commemorative tickets” as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to fans who purchased tickets to select games from the remaining season.
NFTs would be sent to eligible Ticketmaster wallets, a ticket sales and distribution company that NFL has partnered with on the initiative. In addition, NFTs would be issued on Polygon (MATIC) blockchain, a popular Ethereum-based scaling solution.
Very interesting to see the subtle design differences on these virtual stubs. I wonder how much say the teams had? (compressed for Twitter) pic.twitter.com/G9x22Eoomb

The virtual tickets will be given at select NFL games of this season “as a token of appreciation for attending the game.” Every 32 teams will release 125 different collectibles for their fans on the Polygon Network.
“Leveraging the emerging world of NFTs is a new and exciting way for us to create additional value and to further engage with fans who attend select games by providing a virtual commemorative ticket,” said Bobby Gallo, senior vice president of NFL club business development.
NFL has steadily increased its exposure to the nascent industry with its recent partnership with Dapper Labs. The league is set to launch its own NFT marketplace, similar to the NBA Top Shot created by Dapper Labs.
