Aaron Rodgers is a professional quarterback from the Packers. He has been an NFL MVP for the last three seasons, including 2020. In addition, Rodgers currently boasts the second largest number of touchdowns (429), after Tom Brady.
The move came in line with Rodger’s partnership with CashApp, a Square-backed mobile payments service.
“I’m excited about the future of cryptocurrency and am a big believer in Bitcoin,” Rodgers said in a statement. “So much so that I’ve chosen to take a large portion of my salary in Bitcoin, thanks to the help of Cash App.”
Rodgers had signed a four-year contract with the Green Bay Packers totaling $134 million in 2018. In addition, the QB earns an average of $33.5 million a year. While the percentage of salary to be converted in BTC was not revealed, Rodgers would likely be the largest player ever to receive an annual salary with Bitcoin.
