MyEtherWallet (MEW) integrated the crypto startup MoonPay as its on/off ramp partner for users across all platforms. The initiative should provide customers with additional access to the Ethereum blockchain.
MEW and MoonPay Shake Hands
According to a document seen by CryptoPotato, the collaboration between the two entities aims to reduce the barriers of entering the Ethereum ecosystem. It enables users to facilitate crypto-to-fiat settlements using credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay. Ivan Soto-Wright – CEO of MoonPay – stated that simplifying this process is one of his company’s key goals:
“MoonPay’s mission is to simplify fiat-to-crypto transactions so that more people can have access to this remarkable technology. Partnering with MEW introduces our services to both seasoned users and newcomers to crypto.”
Kosala Hemachandra – CEO and Founder of MEW – asserted that his organization is “always looking for ways to improve user experience.” In his view, the partnership with MoonPay will empower new clients and make them feel more confident when exploring Ethereum.
Founded in 2015, MEW has been an important part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, providing open-source access to the Ethereum blockchain and allowing people to manage and exchange non-fungible tokens from everywhere. In addition, MEW offers educational services, enabling anyone to learn about the merits of the digital asset industry.
The two entities vowed to celebrate the collaboration by implementing zero fees on MoonPay transactions through March 29, 2022.
MoonPay Bought a CryptoPunk for $3 Million Worth of ETH
In January this year, the fintech payment infrastructure provider purchased a zombie-themed CryptoPunk for 900 ETH. At the transaction time, the deal equaled approximately $3 million.
The company often stands as a middleman for celebrity NFT deals. As such, it created speculation in the space of who the latest purchase was for. MoonPay even released a tweet where individuals could “guess” who the actual owner was. Some fan predictions ranged from popular NBA players to the renowned chef Gordon Ramsay.
In November last year, Jimmy Fallon – host of “The Tonight Show” – revealed he bought a Bored Ape NFT through MoonPay, while the American rapper Post Malone disclosed he did the same several days later.
